Last night, the fast-growing online shopping website business Mighty Ape was awarded the Supreme Business Excellence Award at the Westpac Auckland Business Awards 2014 – North, after winning the Excellence in Customer Service Delivery award earlier in the evening.
The Supreme Award is recognition of the phenomenal growth and strong customer service values in a business that started as a retail gaming store and website, and evolved into Mighty Ape – one of New Zealand’s most popular retail websites – in 2008.
Said Mighty Ape: “We believe that providing great service and keeping customers happy is the best way to encourage word of mouth advertising and to achieve low cost growth.”
Auckland Chamber of Commerce CEO Michael Barnett congratulates Mighty Ape and all the North awards category winners which represent the diversity of Auckland’s economy in size, management style and innovative business strategies.
“From global and well-established companies to new local enterprises that started in the founders’ garage or basement, all the winners contribute to the thriving North business community and to Auckland’s economic success,” said Barnett.
“We look forward to seeing more of what these businesses – particularly the standout businesses identified by our judges – have to offer to the wider Auckland business community in the near future as they innovate, grow and prosper.“
Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) partners the Chamber to present the Awards. ATEED chief executive Brett O’Riley said: “Congratulations to last night’s winners, which epitomise the excellence, skill level and innovation we see so often in our engagement with businesses in the North region.
“Like all of last night’s finalists, we believe in the future growth potential of business in the North, which is why we work with partners on initiatives such as the Massey University e-centre and our two iTEC clusters to help transform the region’s economy.”

The North Gala Dinner and Awards ceremony was a glittering occasion held at Bruce Mason Centre in Takapuna, attended by more than 300 guests.
