Entries are now sought from all outstanding Auckland Central businesses following the launch of the Westpac Auckland Central Business Awards 2013 on Wednesday 17 April. The Awards recognise Auckland Central Business success.

Auckland Chamber of Commerce is pleased to present the Westpac Auckland Central Business Awards for the third year.

Auckland Chamber of Commerce CEO Michael Barnett, says that the Awards are a fantastic opportunity to learn from other businesses. “A business which is not only brave enough to discover how good it is through the process of entering the Awards, but also allows others to not only judge it but to learn from it, should be celebrated.”

“Entering the awards is a process of discovery for entrants to check what the business does, whether the business is still closely aligned to its original purpose, and a chance to talk about their business with people who have gone through similar processes, even failure. It is an enlightening process to go through,” he says.

There are great internal and external benefits to companies entering the awards said Advantage Business operations manager Ross Keith, who is one of the facilitators for entrants. “Businesses entering the awards have the opportunity to take an objective look at systems, processes and the business’ strong points in a self-critique. In doing so they can see opportunities for improvement and it is a strong statement to the organisation that it is proud of the business,” he said. “And externally the organisation gets exposure and a brand building opportunity.”

Last year’s Supreme Award winner and Winner of the Excellence in Exporting Award was Les Mills International, creator of group exercise programmes. Creative director Emma Barry said that the Award has validated all their hard work. “We felt surrounded by brilliance at the awards and feel incredibly proud of our wonderful product and service and the way we change lives of people around the world. Winning these awards will help us stay motivated so we can keep on creating.”

Westpac General Manager Business Banking, Mark Fitz-Gerald believes the awards are incredibly valuable for Auckland Central businesses. “We’re looking forward to building on the quality and success of the previous Westpac Auckland Central Business Awards by again supporting these prestigious awards and helping showcase Auckland’s thriving business community,” he said.

Entry into the awards is open to businesses which have their offices within Auckland Central as defined by the old Auckland City boundaries. Entry is free and assistance (at no cost) is available for businesses to help in preparing their entries.

Category winners and the overall winner will be announced at a black-tie Gala Dinner on Friday 7 November.
